77 recognised beaches in the province
The 2026 Blue Flag awards list includes 77 beaches in the province of Alicante, six more than the previous year. Across the Valencian Community, 152 beaches in 48 municipalities have received the award.
The list covers many Costa Blanca municipalities, including Dénia, Calpe, Altea, Benidorm, Alicante, Torrevieja and Orihuela. It therefore does not point to just one lifestyle: a large urban beach, a more secluded cove, a lively promenade or a family-friendly setting can all be found along the same coastline.
What the label means
The Blue Flag is based on criteria relating to water quality, environmental information, management, safety and services. It is a useful indicator when planning a visit, but it does not replace personal observation of a neighbourhood throughout the year.
When choosing somewhere to live, also consider walkability, parking, shade, transport, summer noise and winter services. The best holiday beach is not necessarily the one that best suits your ordinary Tuesday.
